In the historical period between 1500 BCE-600 CE in that respect were two great civilizations in India and the twelvemonthical Mediterranean man. Both had systems of ranking large number based on class during this period. Though out both these civilizations there were many similarities and differences in the class systems of both civilizations. The class system was similar in the way they had different levels of classes and the way they distributed power between there classes but different in the reason and number of classes.
In the classical Mediterranean world with the Romans and Greeks there was basically yet two kinds of classes. The Patricians(the elite including government officials, wealthy citizens, and relatives to the ruler of the time) and the Plebeians(majority of people including slaves, women, children and the poor). The Patricians made society unfair for those of pull down class by only allowing certain rights and jobs and only allowing those with citizenship and land to vote or those in Rome with more money had more voter turnout power than lower class. This is similar to the Indian civilization in that the higher classes held more power but India had more levels of loving class and specific titles and jobs for each class.

The Brahmin(priests/scholars), Kshatriya(warriors/officials), Vaishya(merchants/artisans) and the Shudra(peasants/slaves). The top of these classes was the Brahmin because they held the power to connect to the gods and the knowledge of technology. The Kshatriya and the Vaishya were lower than the Brahmin but still considered higher classes. The Shudra that were the lower class of India and were forced to hard labor jobs and the menial jobs of all the groups. Like in the classical Mediterranean world women in India had basically no say in the folk and main duties were to marry, clean, cook, and tend to the children.
